Ridney at Ministry Of Sound Review

The event? Kinky Malinki. Our client? Defected / Azuli / Head Kandi / Size / Spinnin / Extra Dry & of course Ministry of Sound’s ‘RIDNEY’ headlining 103 (formerly The Bar).

The line up at the celebratory 20-year old Ministry consists of some of House Music’s leading names. The schematic formula consisted of one room with the sounds of tomorrow and one room featuring Kinky Malinki classics from yesteryear, the tunes that defined their mantra of sexy up front house music.

Most promoters just take up The Box and 103 with The Baby Box and The Loft for other promoters to knock up their own intimate party, not so with tonight, the entire venue was kitted out with Kinky Malinki touches of class and finesse – LED Monitors (the successor to conventional LCD TV Monitors), multi-coloured lasers and insane CO2 Cannons blasting the crowd in the sweaty packed out debauched BOX! This was insane, after we filmed RIDNEY in 103, The Box was PACKED right up till 6am when we finally bidded the night, good night. Tom Novy took the box through some new and classic tunes, some classic Balearic beats blasted out to hands in the air moments that we will never forget (though, it helps if you have it on camera!).

Well, lets get back to 103 for a massive breather and witness RIDNEYS set, after shooting his intro outside, it was quickly inside to set up in 103s DJ booth where the pre match nerves were quickly overshadowed by the first droppage of tuneage – namely ‘Ridney – Good Shout’ a pumping track that really gets the crowd going, and it was certainly some crowd, pumping and jumping by the time we got there around 11.

The set and crowd were in harmony, the peak came when the new tune – ‘James Talk and Ridney – One For Me‘ was dropped – which features vocals by Max C aka Charles E.Salter, a really classic house, Ibiza anthem tune that is likely to be a massive hit this summer.

Well what better way to finish of a set than with a Frankie Knuckles ‘Your Love’ remix with Ridney showing the crowd how much DJing at one of the Worlds best clubs meant to him.
